A Mobile Middleware Component Providing Voice over IP Services to Mobile Users
نویسندگان
چکیده
The ACTS project MOVE currently designs and develops a middleware architecture called Voice-Enabled Mobile Application Support Environment (VE-MASE). The VE-MASE enhances the middleware architecture, which was developed in the ACTS project OnTheMove, by providing support for interactive real-time multimedia applications and integrated voice and data services. In preparation for future 3 generation mobile networks, the aim is to enable a completely new class of interactive multimedia services targeted at, but not limited to, mobile devices that are equipped with the VE-MASE. This paper discusses the VE-MASE component called Audio Gateway, which is responsible for providing Internet Telephony services to mobile users.

Delivering Integrated Voice and Data Services for Mobile Customers with the MOVE Middleware Architecture
Voice and data services for mobile customers have hitherto been offered only in isolation or loosely coupled, at best. The MOVE mobile middleware architecture enables the integration of voice and data services to a much higher degree. This paper describes how this architecture has been used, for demonstration purposes, to enhance a multimedia service for mobile customers, implemented under the ...
متن کاملIpv6 + Mobile-ip + Mrsvp = Internet Cellular Phone?
Initially, Internet protocols were not designed for mobility nor were they designed for handling real-time services. Recent research e orts on Mobile-IP and RSVP are aimed at providing these features in the Internet. However, additional support is needed to provide real-time services for moving users. One such real-time service for mobile users is the concept of an Internet Cellular Phone. An I...
متن کاملA Push-Based VoIP Service for an Internet-Enabled Mobile Ad Hoc Network
VoIP (Voice over IP) services are gaining more popularity recently. This work considers providing VoIP services in an Internet-enabled mobile ad hoc network (MANET). Since MANET does not have a fixed connection to the Internet, we propose to attach one or multiple cellular interfaces to the gateway of the MANET to establish the connection so that users can enjoy mobile VoIP services. Connecting...
متن کاملMobile and Multicast IP Services in PACS: System Architecture, Prototype, and Performance
Traditionally, wireless cellular communication systems have been engineered for voice. With the explosive growth of Internet applications and users, there is an increasing demand on providing Internet services to mobile users based on the voice-oriented cellular networks. However, Internet services add a set of radically diierent requirements on to the cellular wireless networks, because the na...
متن کاملRIMA: Router for Integrated Mobile Access
Next generation wireless networks will rely heavily on packet transport for both data and voice services. In this paper, we describe the Router for Integrated Mobile Access (RIMA) system, which is the core network element of an integrated wireless packet network. RIMA acts as a Mobile Switching Center for standard cellular telephony users, and a mobile router for wireless packet data users. RIM...
